- Philip of Pitcox has given and made firm by this his present charter to Melrose Abbey, for the souls of his father and mother and all his ancestors and successors, in free, pure and perpetual alms, that part of the pasture in the territory of Pitcox (ELO) which they held from his father, to be held from him and his heirs without any terrestrial service, custom and secular exaction.
