Description
Walter son of Alan, steward of the king of Scotland, has given, granted, and by this his charter established to Melrose Abbey, for the soul of his lord, King Malcolm, in free and perpetual alms, four ploughgates of land in ‘Edmundiston’ (in Stenton, ELO), which his lord, the king, gave to him, and by good men, allowed him to take possession of, free from all service and custom.
