Description
Robert of Barnoldby has given, granted and established by this his charter, to Melrose Abbey, for the soul of Ansketil of Ryedale who gave him his land, and for the welfare of Patrick of Ryedale and Walter his son, his lords, and others, in free, pure and perpetual alms, that piece of land in the territory of Whitton (ROX), which is contained within stated bounds, bordering on the land that William, persona of Hownam, holds from him at ferme, free and quit from all earthly service, custom and secular exaction.
