Description
These are the boundaries sworn and perambulated between Cloquhat (PER), the land of the canons of Scone, and Drimmie (PER), the land of the monks of Coupar [Angus], on the Friday after the Purification of the BVM, in the tenth year of King Alexander II’s reign, by the king’s precept, by William Comyn, earl of Buchan, justiciar of Scotia, in the presence of many knights and other responsible men of Angus and of Gowrie present, with the bounds stated herein. The jurati (oath-takers) were these: Brother Robert the dog (or perhaps the surname le Chen/Cheyne), Gilmore of ‘Pethnekur’, constable of Inverquiech, Bridin mac Martin, mair of Gowrie, Gilandrew mac Gillarhyn, franklin of Scone (i.e,. a freeholder of Scone Abbey), Gilandrew his brother, Gilchrist mac Cinaed, Gilise mac Gillemichael MacFhearchar, Macbeth mac Malmartin.
