Document 2/132/20 (St A. Lib., 84)

Description
Pope Lucius III grants to the prior and regular canons of the church of St Andrews that they are not to pay teinds to anyone from lands which they work with their own hands or at their own expense. The pope also decrees that upon termination of the episcopate of Bishop John of Dunkeld, those churches belonging to St Andrews which John administered should revert to them. The prior and canons should never be obstructed in this right by the fact that those churches had been granted to John during his lifetime as part of the settlement between him and Bishop Hugh of St Andrews, saving the composition made between them.
