Gregory VIII, pope (d.1187)

Biography
Kelly, Oxford Dictionary of Popes, 182-83: Gregory was born Alberto de Morra around 1110 at Benevento. He had been a canon regular at Laon and professor of law at Bologna. He was promoted to cardinal by Adrian IV. He was elected pope at Ferrara on 21 October 1187 and died at Pisa on 17 December 1187, having served almost two months. He was buried in the Duomo of Pisa.
