John de Vaux (fl.c.1160-89)

Biography
John (I) de Vaux was a hostage for William I at Falaise (CDS, i, no. 139). He witnessed a charter of Robert de Bruce (Glas. Reg., no. 72), which may be dateable 1187×89, making this his last appearance. However, as this deals with the Annandale area, it is possible that this John is from the Gilsland family.
