Geoffrey, son of Richard, of Inverkunglas, sheriff

Biography
sheriff of Crail NB. This family has until recently been associated with Kinglassie in Fife. Simon Taylor has now demonstrated that ‘Inverkunglas’ and its variants can not be Kinglassie. He suggests that it was in the diocese of Dunkeld, possibly but not necessarily in west Fife. This does not change the likelihood, pointed out by Barrow, that Geoffrey son of Richard was the sheriff of Fife and/or Crail, as well as the steward of Kinghorn. See Taylor, Place-Names of Fife, i, 45-6.
