Second seal, single-sided, used from c.1200. The seal depicts the earl on horseback to *sinister*, wearing *mascled* armour and a round-topped helmet with nasal, and holding a long sword with a decorated blade in his right hand. A shield suspended from his neck bears arms of a lion *rampant*. The horse’s saddle-cloth is fringed with eight pointed tags.
